Rangvesh Go Back

All of you know Rang Vesh. The first hep, ethnic women's wear outfit at the newly opened National Plaza, Baroda's first shopping mall. Now, 15 years later, Rang Vesh continues to be the leader, but operating on a much bigger scale, with a larger range of textiles, embroidery and garment designs, an added floor, and a new chakachak look. However, the old warmth is the same, the good quality is guaranteed, and the pricing is as reasonable as can be. Giving you all the more reason why Rang Vesh should be on your 'must visit' list whenever you go shopping for Indian traditional and formal wear.

As all of us do, Rang Vesh has also changed with the times. The old cotton-Kachchhi embroidery and mirror work routine has given way to chic embroidered silks, crepes, georgettes, chiffons and tissues, in both the pure and blended varieties. These are designed by Deepak and his team of designers into the traditional and the 'latest' style salwar-kameez-chudidar-dupatta, ghagra-choli, shararas, short kurta ensembles and designer sarees. They are styled as casual (regular college, office wear), partywear (evening wear, festive clothing) and formal (weddings and other events) collections. Rang Vesh creations are marked by good cut, quality embroidery work whether it is simple or fancy, superior fabric and competent tailoring. Ready-to-wear ensembles are available in a range of colour combinations and sizes but can also be immediately altered by tailors in the shop to give you the right fitting.

The main floor of Rang Vesh stocks the casual wear collection and a vast selection of cut fabric sets from which you can make your selection and Deepak will help you with the design and the tailoring.  Deepak is a self-taught fashion designer who studied Pattern Cutting at DALI at the London

College of Fashion, The London Institute, UK. The basement floor stocks the partywear and formal collection, also in the form of unstitched fabric so that you can decide a unique design for yourself.

Rang Vesh offers top-of-the-line Indian clothing for girl children, young girls and women. This designerwear outlet continues to be popular chiefly because of its exclusive designs – Deepak has his own sources of cloth suppliers, dyers (the startling colour combinations that Rang Vesh can offer is one of its major strong points), printers, embroiderers (both local and out-of-town, for hand and machine work), and all basic designing is done by Deepak himself. While designing, Deepak keeps in mind the detailed requirements of women wearing his clothes. Basically these include comfort, easy maintenance and a certain level of exclusivity. Whereas a certain stock of traditional cuts and styling is always available, Deepak has his finger on the pulse of the fashion industry and is almost always the first designer in Baroda to put out a line of the latest rage.

For example, at the moment, the Devdas style is popular and with the festive season upon us, Deepak already has embroiderers near Kolkata busy sending him simply exquisite stuff!

Whereas Rang Vesh already has a devoted following in the city and new ones joining every day, it is now even more interested in supplying designed outfits to boutiques and retail chain stores in other parts of India and abroad.
