1. L & T Powai / Ranoli: Fabricated Jobs weighting approximately 22 M.T.
2. Mixing Chambers of Inconel Metal of G.P.E.C, Paguthan: Turbine Maintenance Jobs
We have started upgradation of fuel management system for firing of our furnaces, by installing LPG combustion system, including set of new burners, complete piping and valves. The installation is at a very advanced stage, and the new system should be operational by mid-November 2007.
The resulting advantage to the customer's jobs of different carbon steel alloys: Due to very low (less than .003 %) sulfur content, scaling on jobs after heat treatment will be negligible.
Heat treatment was done on L &T Ltd. fabricated jobs of special alloy MOC. The job was a heat exchanger consisting of 435 tubes having approximate length of 6 meters and dia with supports of approximate 2.2 meters.
Due to criticality of the job, customer required 20 thermocouples at various points on the job and inside the tubes and additional 24 thermocouples were provided as standby installation.
The most critical requirement was that during the process of PWHT, the difference between 2 TCs had to be not more than 40 degrees C in order to avoid any differential expansion and contraction between the outer 30 mm thick shell and inside tube having only 2mm thickness.
Soaking temperature was 680 degrees C to 700 degrees C, and the soaking period was 2 hours.
In view of all above critical factors, the duration of batch was of 60 hours, without any break.
We successfully completed the batch, without any distortion on tubes and on the job. It was completed in the presence of L & T inspection authorities from Powai and Ranoli.
G.P.E.C. Inconel Mixing Chambers jobs are in progress.
